Abstract: This workshop is designed for GeoTech 2007 attendees who wish to become more familiar with multispectral and hyperspectral remote sensing technology. The workshop will cover the basic physics of spectroscopy, the types of spectral sensors currently used by governments and industries worldwide, and the types of data processing used for various hyperspectral imaging applications.  Lectures will be enhanced by computer demonstrations.  After taking this workshop, attendees should be able to communicate and work productively with other professionals in this field.  Each workshop attendee will receive a complete set of lecture notes on a CD-ROM disc. Workshop instructor: Dr. Richard B. Gomez has worked in the field of hyperspectral/multispectral remote sensing for many years. He has worked for government, industry, and academia organizations. He is currently teaching hyperspectral imaging graduate courses in the College of Science at George Mason University.

Workshop Number 2

Room: Science Center

Time: 9:30AM-12:30PM

Moderator: Stefanie Tompkins

Affiliation: SAIC

Topic: Industry Hyperspectral Trends

Download Presentations (zipped PowerPoint):
Introduction: Intro_tompkins.zip (220 Kb)
Todd Hawley: Promise of Spectral & Signatures Understanding (6.18 Mb)
Michael Corson: Environmental & Tactical Products from Hyperspectral Imagery (8.6Mb)

Abstract: This Workshop will be a series of excellent speakers discussing hyperspectral imaging applications. Christopher Simi, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA),  will discuss HSI Sensors. Todd Hawley, Technical Director, National Signatures Program, will discuss HSI Signatures. Mike Corson, Head - Coastal and Ocean Remote Sensing Branch, Naval Research Laboratory, will discuss HSI Algorithms. Mark Salvador, Deputy Manager, Imagery Technology and Systems Division, SAIC, will discuss HSI Computation & Data. And, a TBD speaker will discuss HSI Management. We thank Stefanie Tompkins for coordinating this comprehensive Workshop.

Lunch Break ------> Science Center 12:30PM-1:30PM Exhibits Free Lunch

Workshop Number 3

Room: Auditorium

Time: 1:30PM-4:30PM

Speakers: Thomas Carson, PhD; Ian Isaacs, Intermap Technologies; Steven Shaffer, EarthData International

Affiliation: EarthData Inc. & Intermap Technologies

Topic: The Commercial Airborne Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar: A Technical Overview and Recent Results

Abstract: Airborne Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) systems offer new capabilities for the wide area collection of radar images and digital elevation models. A technical overview of IFSAR technology will be presented to acquaint participants with the basis behind radar interferometry for elevation model development. The two major players in this field, EarthData International and Intermap will present overviews of their collection and processing systems, and will present results from some recent projects.

Workshop Number 4

Room: Science Center

Time: 1:30PM-4:30PM

Speaker: Harold Cline

Affiliation: ITT VIS, Inc.

Topic: Exploiting Imagery with the ENVI toolset, with Applications

Abstract: IDL and ENVI are used by thousands of commercial and government organizations around the world in a variety of disciplines. This product-specific Workshop provides an excellent overview of this exciting technology. It is meant for the beginer and expert alike.
